The grapes for Fontanasanta grow on a hill above Trento with clayey-limestone soils. There, the Manzoni Bianco finds perfect ripening conditions and gives the vineyards their maximum expression. The Fontanasanta only shows its full potential after a good three years and benefits greatly from further years of bottle ripening. Harvested by hand, it undergoes alcoholic fermentation on the skins in cement tanks before maturing for a further eight months in used acacia barrels. Annual production averages 25,000 bottles.

Color

Strong straw yellow with a slightly silky shimmer.

Nose

The 2022 Fontanasanta from Vigneti delle Dolomiti by Foradori is exceptionally talkative this vintage when it comes to revealing its aromas. As a rule, it tends to keep a low profile in this regard, but this year it chats almost effusively about herbal tea, camomile and light yeast pastry until the fruit comes forward and small yellow apples, pears and some dried fruit flow from the goblet. Underpinned by tart kitchen herbs of sage and borage, it radiates great calm.

Mouth

On the palate, it is also open-hearted and expansive, characterised by youthful aromas of yeast, its fruit is reminiscent of the peel of yellow pome fruit, underpinned by a delicate astringency, highly aromatic phenolic and generally very vinous character. Everything about this wine seems to be optimally matured, the acidity acts contouringly in the background, the viscous texture also appears silky on the palate with animating play on the tongue. What used to need some bottle ageing can now be poured away without restraint.
