Manzoni Bianco

Also known as: 6.0.13 (breeding number), Incrocio Manzoni (Italy)

Luigi Manzoni bred new grape varieties for northern Italy in the 1930s at the oenology school in Conegliano. Manzoni Bianco – officially 6.0.13 – is a cross between Riesling and Pinot Blanc. The variety combines the acidity structure of Riesling with the fullness of Pinot Blanc, yet remains distinctive: less mineral than Riesling, less creamy than Pinot Blanc. In Trentino and Veneto, it is primarily cultivated at higher elevations.

Foradori in Trentino demonstrates how precisely this cross interprets high-altitude sites with Manzoni Bianco. Pranzegg in South Tyrol complements the range with a different climatic approach to the variety.
