Romain and Damien Bouchard's Domaine de l'Enclos has three Grand Cru and seven Premier Cru sites in Chablis. The Premier Cru site La Fourchaume covers 1.27 hectares and consists of three neighbouring plots with a purely westerly exposure. The vines were planted in the 1960s, 80s and 90s and are located in the heart of the historic Fourchaume site in the hills of the commune of La Chapelle-Vaupelteigne.
Color
Bright straw yellow, radiant and clear.
Nose
The 2022 Le Fourchaume Chablis Premier Cru from Domaine de L'Enclos opens on the nose with profound floral notes of lemon and orange blossom, camomile tea, salty oyster shells and wet blackboard chalk. A hint of lemon bisquit roll mingles with real aniseed and a little chervil, green apple, a little fennel green and salted popcorn complete the round dance.
Mouth
There's no mercy on the palate, but rather something straight to the papillae. With an uncompromising punch, the wine has a grip straight out of a picture book, firm and gripping with explosive extract and the finest phenolics. The acidity directs the overall performance, which not only completely lines the mouth with its density and taut complexity, but virtually impregnates it. Grand Cru performance at Premier Cru prices.
