Wine information
Garnacha Negra, Garnacha Peluda and Cariñena from 50 to 60-year-old vines. They stand in a friend's vineyard with vines at an altitude of 700 metres in the municipality of Cornudella del Montsant, which is currently being certified for biodynamic cultivation. Cornudella is the northernmost village in Montsant, there are very few vineyards there and the altitude also contributes to the cool climate. The ripening cycle is very slow here. The soils are light red in colour with a lot of gypsum.
Half of the second vintage of this wine was fermented with indigenous yeasts in amphorae, the rest in stainless steel. It matured in these containers for six months before being bottled in May 2020.
Color
slightly transparent garnet red
Nose
The cuvée opens with a cool and fresh red berry expression, supported by notes of crushed lime and herbs. The blend of redcurrants, barberries and raspberries is accompanied by violets, a hint of liquorice and pink pepper.
Palate
On the palate, you can understand the name of the wine quite well. It dances on the tongue with an electrifying acidity and a mineral tension that makes you twitch. Aromatically, the Pas de Deux Similar to a vintage port, but without the sweetness and heaviness. But the ripe fruit and spice cake are there. However, it is a structurally light, ethereal wine that pushes forward, offers tart notes and a firm tannin and remains stony and cool until the finish.
