Wine information
The wine comes from the winery's 16 hectares of vineyards. The vineyard is characterised by clay, silt and sand on asteric limestone and lies at an altitude of 80 to 106 metres. 70 % Merlot, 20 % Cabernet Franc and 10 % Cabernet Sauvignon were used for this wine. The vineyard is cultivated biodynamically. Agroforestry and permaculture are also integrated. After manual harvesting, spontaneous fermentation took place, followed by ageing in used oak barrels for 24 months. The wine was bottled without the addition of sulphur, filtration or fining.
Color
Garnet red with light brownish reflections, somewhat transparent
Nose
This Bordeaux is classic in its style and has a charming and elegant aroma of ripe blackberries, cherries, a hint of cassis, dried roses and violets. At the same time, there are notes of undergrowth, forest floor with wet leaves, some leather and dog rose.
Taste
On the palate, the Closerie Saint Roc 2016 initially silky and fresh with a medium body. Then the firm tannin becomes noticeable, which is typical of this Bordeaux provides structure. Overall, the wine is transparent, clear and juicy with a ripe, silky acidity.
