Wine information
The Clos de la Dioterie is the domaine's most famous vineyard. It was already mentioned in the Middle Ages, when it still had a complete enclosure, and it is located not far from the Vienne directly at the winery. The rather flat vineyard is characterised by clay in the topsoil and lime and mica in the subsoil. The vines are 90 to 100 years old. The Cabernet Franc receives a cool pre-fermentation at 10 °C for ten days. The maceration in wooden vats lasts about four weeks at temperatures of 21 °C at the most. As soon as the alcoholic fermentation is complete, the blending of the pre-fermentation wines and the best pressed wines for the malolactic fermentation takes place. The French oak barrels are partially renewed each year, so that about one fifth of the barrels are new and one to four years old. The vintages then mature for 15 to 16 months in wood, another six months in tank for harmonisation, and are then bottled.

quite dark garnet red with a light brick red rim
Nose
With the 2011 Clos de la Dioterie the primary crop has largely disappeared. The Chinon from the monopollage has a tobacco, slightly nutty and tart effect with mint, a little green pepper and beans, leather and a little sous-bois.
Palate
On the palate, the wine offers a discreet extract sweetness with quite a lot of body, with power and a still very present tannin that, typical for the vintage, lets a hint of green shine through. The fruit is mature and offers melting, interspersed with a present acidity. A beautiful Chinon with strength and solidity and at the same time transparency, old school in the best sense.
