Wine description

Wine information
The Pünderich Marienburg vineyards score points for their perfect south, south-west and south-east exposures, which provide ample sunshine. Mainly consisting of weathered grey slate, the soil offers an optimal growing environment. The hardy vines, which are over 30 years old, can survive during periods of drought. Highly ripe, healthy grapes, possibly with some botrytis infestation, are selected for the late harvest. Fermented in traditional Fuder barrels, the fermentation process is cooled when an alcohol content of approx. 7.5 vol% is reached and the wine yeast is drawn off.

Color
A bright, glittering golden yellow flatters the eye, refined with green reflections.

Aroma
The 2022 Marienburg Riesling Spätlese exudes a bouquet of green apple, sweet citrus aromas, peach, crisp pineapple, white flowers and mango, accompanied by a distinct, fresh and slightly smoky minerality. Although somewhat reserved at first, the aromas hint at promising potential.

Taste
A freshness unfolds on the palate, complemented by a sweetness that is as pronounced as it is varied. A seeming firework of flavours combines exciting acidity with the remarkable sweetness, surprising anew with every sip and yet pleasant. Despite its apparent qualities, the Riesling Spätlese still leaves some room for speculation and promises excellent ageing potential - patience will certainly pay off here.

Food recommendations
Try an ahi tuna tartare with Asian spices and mango salad. Alternatively, a Brillat Savarin cheese accompanied by figs preserved in syrup goes well. For dessert, we recommend a refreshing lemon tart with fresh mint and a Riesling sabayon.
