Wine Notice:
We focus on the recognised Grand Cru site of Les Bressandes, deservedly positioned in the optimal spot in the middle of the Corton hill, flanked by Clos du Roi and Les Renardes. This prestigious vineyard is triply divided over 1.12 hectares, with a soil formed of bajocium and Oxford limestone, mineral stones, clay and a unique high iron content. From the heart of this majestic landscape, Corton-Bressandes is created from vines that have already reached their mid-life - some 35 years under their belt. The production process honoured natural spontaneity: with a whole-cluster total, the wine was fermented in the wood cuve, only to later slide by gravity into the barriques and tonneaux, lightly glued by new wood. With 14 months of ageing and minimal sulphur added, bottling is usually straight from the barrel.
Colour characteristics:
Its colour brings out a soft transparent garnet red.
Aroma profile:
With the 2019 Corton-Bressandes, we seamlessly join the ranks of magnificent harvest years. The aromatic bouquet reveals a masterly balance between strength and lightness, elegance and down-to-earth naturalness. It begins with a powerful blend of violet and rose petals, complemented by intense cherry and raspberry aromas, cranberries and plums, interwoven with moss, undergrowth, foliage and cool lime, all nestling around a sweet core note.
Taste picture:
Its play on the tongue is as engaging as its aromatics - the Grand Cru enjoys a fascinating softness and seductive charm. A remarkable intensity slumbers in the wine compartments, which can already be discerned but only reveals itself superficially. It balances weightlessly against the fine texture and fleshy bite of this wine, accompanied by firm acidity. In the aftertaste of the drinking experience, the fierce, herbal notes through the stems, laurel, undergrowth, tobacco and tart chocolate become more prominent. They fuse with the fruit to create an exceptional finish that will leave you wanting more.
Meal suggestions:
Try this wine with a hearty game hen ragout, a light tuna tataki with black sesame seeds and fresh coriander, or if you want to be completely experimental, a pigeon fricassee with fruits and pork lard flavoured with an oriental spice blend would also be an exciting combination.
