Wine Description for Chambolle-Musigny „Les Bussières“ AOC 2019 1500ml Magnum by Hubert Lignier

Character
Hubert Lignier belongs to those Burgundy winemakers who work with a measured hand and give their wines time. His Chambolle-Musigny from the vineyard site Les Bussières embodies the classical elegance of this privileged appellation – a Pinot Noir of silky texture and aromatic finesse, which masterfully commands the balance between power and delicacy. The magnum format lends this 2019 additional ageing potential and promises a slower, more harmonious development.
Terroir & Origin
Chambolle-Musigny is regarded as one of the most feminine appellations of the Côte de Nuits. The vineyard site Les Bussières lies on the upper slope with calcareous soils and good drainage – ideal conditions for Pinot Noir with depth and precision. The 2019 vintage brought warm, sunny conditions to Burgundy, resulting in fully ripe grapes with concentrated aromas, without losing the typical Burgundian freshness. The cool nights provided the necessary acidity structure.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pinot Noir shows its most delicate side in Chambolle-Musigny – less muscular than in Gevrey-Chambertin, but with floral notes, red berries and an almost perfumed elegance. Hubert Lignier works traditionally with extended skin contact and maturation in French barriques, with the proportion of new oak used with restraint. The 14% alcohol testifies to the ripeness of the vintage without disturbing the harmony. The result is a wine of Burgundian authenticity – complex, age-worthy and terroir-driven.
Food Pairing Recommendations
This Chambolle-Musigny demands a cuisine that respects its finesse: game birds, pigeon or pheasant are ideal partners. Also veal loin with morels, Coq au Vin or aged Comté harmonise beautifully. With mushroom dishes and truffle risotto, the wine unfolds its earthy nuances. The magnum is excellent for festive occasions with several guests.
