Wine information

The Bonnaventure - named after the owner family - is a Cabernet Franc that comes from a site directly behind the castle. The vines stand on a south-facing plateau of 2.8 hectares with yellow tuff and grey sand in the topsoil. The Cabernet is vinified in cuves of 60 hectolitres.

Nose

The Bonnaventure smells exactly the way you want a Cabernet Franc from Chinon to smell. It is the lively blend of cherries, cassis and blackberries, the hint of smoke and crushed flint, the bunch of garden herbs with a little thyme, some juniper and salt, which makes the wine exceedingly appetising.

Palate

On the palate the Bonnaventure Round and full, juicy and earthy. The tannin presents itself fine and round, the dark fruit full-bodied and ripe, but also crisp and fresh in parts. It is an intense and lively Chinon with a firm core of lively acidity, dark, firm chocolate, some forest earth, foliage and undergrowth with a little graphite, rock and juniper giving it a cool draw. Again, the tannins remain pleasantly present and shape the wine, while a little salt is pleasantly mouth watering. The four years of maturation after the harvest have given the Chinon already given a very nice structure and balance.
