Bakkanali is the name of the new winery run by Sebastian Nasello, winemaker at Podere Le Ripi in Montalcino, and his friend Ugo Fabbri. The two spent a long time searching for the right terroir where they could realise their idea of their own wine and travelled a lot to do so. And then it was more or less on their doorstep An altitude with high temperature fluctuations, with geologically ancient terrain, rich in limestone and quartz, which turns into slate and volcanic sand the higher you go. It is the ancient volcano Monte Amiata. The two named their project after the bacchanalia of the Romans, which often ended in the wildest exuberance. This is how the two friends met. They produce their wines for such occasions. Their vineyards lie at 600 to 800 metres above sea level and are being converted to biodynamic viticulture.
