Wine information
This wine is the late-blooming of a grape variety that receives such attention from very few and very rarely. The Zweigelt from loamy chalky marl soils was harvested in 2013, fermented in stainless steel to 1.5 grams of residual sugar and then aged in two to three year old barriques.
Color
slightly transparent ruby red
Nose
This wine is a Zweigelt that has had a Bordeaux suit tailored to it. The amazing thing is that it seems to fit. At least that's what the fragrant, very elegant and quite deep nose suggests. Black cherries and blackberries are just as present as plums, a little lavender and roses, but also herbs, a touch of cedar, clove and finest wood.
Palate
On the palate, this association continues. Quite as if one had it with a Zweigelt rive droite to do, meet here cherries, blackberries, blueberries and plums, some soft but dark chocolate, mocha and toasted wood. The tannin is ripe and round with a fine-grained texture, the acidity excellently structured. Zweigelt, after all, is rarely a wine of great stature and depth, though it may often be attractive. Here it is more attractive, elegant, complex and sensual. And at the end, the clove peeks around the corner again.
