Wine information
Velue is the old name of the village of Velm-Goetzendorf and also of the willows that grow along the streams in the village. The Grüner Veltliner is a selection from all of Zillinger's Veltliner vineyards. The grapes were harvested by hand between 6 and 30 September 2022. 50 % of the harvest were pressed as whole grapes, 45 % were macerated for 12 to 24 hours and 5 % were fermented on the skins. The wine was matured in large used tonneaux, in stainless steel and in amphorae. The wine was bottled in March 2023 with 35 mg total sulphur, 3.15 pH and 1 gram of residual sugar.
Color
rich straw yellow
Nose
The Velue Grüner Veltliner has a delicate, polished and precise fragrance with notes of yellow apples, some yellow plum, hemp, yeast and a potpourri of herbs, some bark and lichen after a spring rain.
Palate
On the palate, the wine is fresh and lean, elegant and juicy with a fine texture characterised by light tannins and a minerality that shines through. The Grüner Veltliner is absolutely typical of the variety, inviting and open with a fine acid structure and a slight bite thanks to the low sulphurisation. The finish is characterised by a slight saltiness and a simultaneous subtle, sensual veil of yeast.
