Wine information
The Tentenublo Tinto is a local wine from Viñaspre in Rioja Alavesa. The vineyards are located at an altitude of around 600 metres in the shadow of the Sierra Cantabria mountain range. It is a traditional blend of 60 percent Tempranillo, 30 percent Garnacha and 10 percent white Viura. The vines are 20 to 100 years old. The wine is aged in a combination of concrete tanks and wooden barrels of different sizes.

Cherry Red
Nose
2020 is considered an Atlantic year in Rioja, and indeed this red wine has a cool impression. The fresh cherry fruit is underpinned by a sparse and cool minerality. Just by smelling it, one suspects that the wine is straightforward and without make-up.
Palate
It is amazing how precise and fresh the wine is, measured by its alcohol content of 14.5 percent. Numbers often mean nothing. The Tentenublo Tinto has a tiptop balance of lively acidity, juicy cherry fruit, fine tannin and medium body. It is taut and earthy-mineral, has depth, great drinking flow and personality. Nice to see that Rioja produces not only great but also interesting wines. The price-performance ratio is absolutely great. This is actually far too good and complex for an "entry-level" wine.
