  • 🎨 ColorTypical of Pinot Noir, expect a clear, bright red colour with possibly some variation depending on the vintage.
  • 👃 AromaComplex bouquets with a mixture of red fruits (cherries, raspberries), supported by spicy notes and a hint of earth, typical of Gevrey-Chambertin, especially from old vines.
  • 👅 TasteFull-bodied with a perfect balance between fruitiness, acidity and tannins that allow for a long, elegant finish. The nuances of the terroir are clearly recognisable in the taste.
  • 🎭 CharacterComplex and elegant, with an impressive structure and depth that reflect the philosophy of biodynamics and the dedicated manual labour in the vineyard.
  • 🍽️ Food recommendationsPerfect with refined dishes such as roast game birds, duck breast or mature cheese. The complexity and elegance of the wine can complement high-quality dishes very well.
  • Special featuresThe emphasis on biodynamic cultivation since the mid-1990s and the focus on old vines in the most prestigious sites of Gevrey-Chambertin, particularly Le Chambertin, make the wines particularly desirable.

Jean-Louis Trapet, the man who runs one of Burgundy's most sought-after wineries, is still a true vigneron today. He is one who pursues his love of Pinot Noir with all his energy in the vineyard. Founded in 1870, Domaine Trapet today has twelve hectares, including some plots with partly ancient vines in the Grands Crus La Chapelle, Les Latricières and - since 1919 - in Le Chambertin. Le Chambertin is the undisputed flagship of the house and, in the best years, the perfect expression of the terroir or, as the British like to say, the sense of place. Jean-Louis Trapet and his wife Andrée turned to biodynamics in the mid-1990s. The many, always well-considered steps that went hand in hand with this have made the Domaine one of the leading wine estates in Bourgogne, but especially in Gevrey-Chambertin.
