Wine information
The Welschriesling Opok is a regional wine from southern Styria that comes primarily from Opok. This is a type of soil consisting of coarse-grained sedimentary rocks of marl, clay and silt. The vines there are a good 30 years old. After manual harvesting, the grapes were pressed and fermented spontaneously. The Welschriesling was then aged on the fine lees in stainless steel for six to 12 months, depending on the batch.
Color
Light, bright green-yellow colour
Nose
The Tements have raised Welschriesling, an Austrian variety that is usually neglected, to a new level. This is not only noticeable in the Lagen-Wöschs, as the variety is often called, but also in the Welschriesling Opok, one of the Wöschmeisters. The nose smells of fresh herbs, limes with zest, green apples, pears and a little woodruff.
Palate
The 2022 presents itself on the palate Welschriesling Opok Lively and juicy, slightly tonic and mineral with lots of juicy fruit of pomaceous fruit, green stone fruit and again some lime. There are also slightly tart, savoury, zesty and herbal notes, but also a sweetness that the wine possesses, although it only has 2.9 grams of residual sugar. This slight fruit sweetness, together with the acidity, the tart notes and the slightly salty finish, not only provides drinking flow, but also drinking pressure.
