Colour & Appearance

Rich golden yellow with bright and green reflections – a wine that visually displays its eight years of maturation in barrel, without appearing oxidative.

Nose

This wine is pure contemplation in the glass. Nothing pushes, nothing shouts – instead, a remarkable inner balance. The fruit palette moves confidently between grilled pineapple, mango and kaffir lime on the exotic side, whilst nashi pear and peach contribute native elegance. Fascinating are the ethereal notes of coriander seed, fennel and artichoke, reminiscent of fennel braised in orange juice. The 105 months on lees manifest in fine biscuit and butterscotch tones, whilst saffron and turmeric contribute oriental spice. A hint of honey and acacia blossom rounds off the complex aromatic profile.

Palate

Taut and demanding, the wine takes command, yet simultaneously elegant and cool. The fruit recedes on the palate – here the spicy and vegetal aromas dominate. The extended lees ageing bestows the wine with remarkable creaminess on a cool, smoky foundation. Its minerality is of legendary intensity.
