Nose
From the pair of brothers Morei and Sgarzon is the Sgarzon always the somewhat brighter, wilder and cooler wine, which is no wonder, since it comes from a cool location. Notes of sloe, pomegranate, ivy, herbs and a hint of raw meat dominate here, along with some stone and also a little juicy ripe elderberry.
Palate
On the palate there is tension and the fine but present tannin that comes unmistakably from the aging in the amphora. It seems almost like the finely rubbed surface of a fired clay layer. The wine's acidity is youthful and demanding, the fruit cool, juicy, reminiscent of sour cherries and sloes. The structure is earthy, lively and very mineral, yet already with a hint of elegance that will increase over the next few years.
Food recommendations by Christoph Raffelt

- Grilled eggplant with chicken liver and braised peppers
- Lamb kebabs with pine nuts and smoked paprika
