Information
Teroldego from the Sgarzon site in Campo Rotaliano, Mezzolombardo, grown on 2.5 hectares of alluvial alluvium about a kilometre from the Morei site. There is a lot of sand in the topsoil, the plot is open and barely protected from the cold winds. The grapes ripen about a week later than in Morei. The wine was aged on the skins for eight months in tinajas, Spanish 420-litre cellar amphorae. In spring 2018, the wine was drawn off into concrete tanks, where it harmonised over the summer. One third of the 2016 Sgarzon was then filled into cilindricas. These are smaller, 330-litre cylindrical amphorae. The wine matured there for another year. It is, so to speak, the Reserva among the amphora wines.

Nose
From the pair of brothers Morei and Sgarzon is the Sgarzon always the somewhat brighter, wilder and cooler wine, which is no wonder, since it comes from the cooler site. With the 2016 vintage, the Sgarzon Cilindrica Juicy and cool in the fragrance. It is mainly sour cherries and black cherries that provide fruit here, but also plums and elderberries. Besides the fruit, there is an earthy note as well as an idea of cherry stones, as if someone has slightly heated a cherry stone pillow.
Palate
On the palate, there is the typical texture of an amphora wine offering a slight resistance and additionally a certain chalkiness. In addition, the wine appears quite warm in fruit with cherry juice and cherry brandy as well as dark notes of blackberries and sloes. The Sgarzon Cilindrica is already very complete, dense and dark, and gets an acid kick in the finish that builds the bridge to the next sip.
