The Sekt Brut Nature NV14 is Tement's answer to the bottle fermenters of this world. The sparkling wine made from 85% Morillon and 15% Weissburgunder was aged for 50 months in neutral barrels after spontaneous fermentation and matured for another 30 months in the bottle. The vines for this sparkling wine are grown in Ehrenhausen on blue and brown chalky marl soils, the age of the vines is between 20 and 55 years. The sparkling wine was dosed Brut Nature and, with only 0.7 grams of residual sugar, is extremely dry and was bottled without additional sulphur. Disgorged in April 2022.
Color
Pale straw yellow with bright reflections and persistent perlage.
Nose
The Great Reserve by Tement smells of lime zest, Granny Smith peel and lemon balm. With more time in the glass, notes of apricot kernels and salted buttered toast with a spoonful of reindeer clove jam emerge. Reduced and sinewy, this sparkling wine allows the lips to lead to the glass in anticipation.
Mouth
On the palate, the curtain rises and offers a view of the extensive ring. Styria has not necessarily distinguished itself as the home of great sparkling wines so far, which should soon change with this extremely precise drink. Clear as a bell with reduced fruit and a saline backbone, it is taut and sinewy on the palate with good pressure and low-threshold drinking resistance. Despite the long yeast storage, it remains focused, precise and vibrating like a laser sword. An absolute stunner that puts Styria on the map as an origin for quality sparkling wine.
