Wine information
La Bonnode borders the La Combe Desroches vineyard and covers two hectares at an altitude of 250 metres, facing east at the foot of the Roche de Vergisson. The 35-year-old vines are mostly surrounded by old shrubs. The soils of calcareous marl and light clay are ideal for Chardonnay. The harvest took place from 23 to 24 September 2021. The Chardonnay was pressed from whole clusters and fermented spontaneously. It then matured for over 17 months in barrels and in Pièces of 228 litres. Malolactic fermentation followed. The total sulphur is 24 mg/l, the pH value is 3.19.

light golden yellow
Nose
The 2021 La Bonnode Cuvée Zen has a similarly elegant, fresh and sensual effect as its siblings, whose sulphur levels are slightly higher. Here, too, notes of lemons and oranges combine with spring flowers and a little lime. However, the wine is even more silky and creamy with hints of lemon curd, garnished with herbs.
Palate
Also on the palate La Bonnode Cuvée Zen stand out with a little more sensuality and creaminess, while the classic La Bonnode is more strongly determined by a punchy acidity. Here, an elegant mouthfeel emerges with the bright fruit of lemons, some pineapple and pear, along with a hint of tannin and, in the finish, a mixture of sour drops, fine and ripe yellow-fruited sweetness, which is, however, recaptured by saltiness and acidity.
