Info about the wine

Challenging and very different to the rest of Europe. The Kamptal was the "rain island" in this dry year of 2022. After an exceptionally dry winter, the long-awaited rain came in mid-April. At the beginning of the harvest, we then had as much rain in 6 months as we normally get in the whole year. Unfortunately, the distribution was not always favourable, and there were losses due to peronospora, especially in Grüner Veltliner. However, as is often the case in such difficult years, the variety thanked us with very good grape quality due to the "natural" thinning out of the mildew. A dry August brought excellent ripeness, while a rainy September presented another challenge at the beginning of the harvest.

Nose

The nose of the 2022 Riesling Ried Loiserberg 1.ÖTW Riesling Kamptal reveals immense freshness of green apple, lime and grapefruit, mingling with lemon balm, elderflower and dried ginger. An extremely multi-faceted flavour that is underpinned by a compact and intense minerality.

Palate

What a lively freshness on the palate, stimulating acidity meets lots of juicy fruit and a finely chiselled salty and mineral note. This wine virtually floats over the tongue, you can't seem to get enough of it. Fantastic in combination with a cuisine that is just as lively and multi-faceted as the wine itself. Very good development potential, a fine long-distance runner.
