The Réserva della Contessa is a cuvée of 57% Pinot Blanc, 26% Chardonnay and 17% Sauvignon Blanc and thus meets the criteria of a Terlaner. Two thirds of the grapes come from Lieben Aich, one third from Kaltern. The vines in Lieben Aich stand on sandy porphyry weathered rock at a good 300 metres in a westerly orientation. In Kaltern, the vines grow on strong, loamy soils with glacial deposits at 500 metres above sea level. The destemmed grapes are gently pressed over six hours, then fermented spontaneously in large wood and then aged for nine months on the fine lees.
Color
Strong straw yellow, bright and clear.
Nose
The 2022 Réserva della Contessa from Manincor shows nobility and restrained elegance on the nose. The fruit ranges from delicately citrusy notes to fully ripe, yellow pome fruit and is reminiscent of zest, apples and small green pears. In addition, there are kitchen herbs such as borage, chervil and sage, which give it - noblesse oblige - the sovereignly tart note. Nonetheless, the Contessa is inviting, inclined towards the simple, drinking people, and its fragrance quickly brings the goblet to the lips.
Mouth
There is hardly a wine that delivers as consistently over the decades as the Réserva della Contessa. Always on the side of the drinker, it is easy to drink without questioning its aristocratic nature. With polished, clear fruit, the tart contour on the tongue's edge has a drinking accelerating effect. On the palate, it is slender with a taut body and wonderfully hedonistic attitude and has a good density and highly attractive length. Drink up!
