Wine Description for K-nom AOC 2022 from Clos Troteligotte

Colour & Appearance
Medium-dense, vibrant purple-red, underscoring the youthfulness of this Malbec – clear and inviting in the glass.
Nose
This is Cahors reinterpreted: a Vin de Soif that captivates with its immediate fruitiness. Juicy plums and blueberries meet ripe blackberries and dark cherries. Beneath, a fine trace of ink and mineral stone – just enough to recall its origins without disturbing the playfulness.
Palate
Here the true character emerges: juicy, fresh and cool, with a remarkably vibrant acidity structure rarely found in every Cahors. The dark fruit feels simultaneously ripe and crisp – a beautiful balancing act. The tannin is present but lightly grippy and integrated. The pronounced minerality lends the wine depth without weighing it down. At just 12% alcohol, it remains light-footed and approachable.
Finish
Medium-length with lingering fruit and a mineral echo that invites the next sip.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from 350-metre-high micro-parcels at Clos Troteligotte. The complex subsoil of clay-limestone, iron-rich siderolithic limestone from the Tertiary and fossil-rich Kimmeridge limestone from the Jurassic gives this wine its characteristic minerality and freshness.
Grape Variety & Vinification
85% Malbec, 15% Merlot from controlled yields (50 hl/ha). Following hand-harvesting and destemming, spontaneous fermentation with gentle extraction and extended maceration. Sulphite-free winemaking and brief ageing in concrete vats preserve the fruitiness. Unracked, unfiltered, minimal sulphur (16 mg/l total).
Food Pairing Suggestions
An uncomplicated companion for charcuterie, grilled sausages, beef tartare or pepperoni pizza. Also a delight with lentil dishes, mushroom ragout or semi-aged hard cheese.
Special Features
A modern, approachable Cahors that proves Malbec can be elegant and drinkable – a wine of character without pretension.
