Overview of the wine
The renowned Zind-Humbrecht winery is known for its unique red wine, which participates on a special parcel of just 0.32 hectares in the single vineyard Heimbourg in Turckheim. The Pinot Noir, situated on western red soil from the Oligocene, enjoys slow ripening while developing its characteristic, fine aroma. The high planting density and very low pruning allow the cultivation of small grapes almost close to the ground.

Wine making details
This vineyard has shown a particular susceptibility to stem diseases despite its low yields in recent years. The grapes are harvested in 15 kg bins, then destemmed by hand and carefully sorted on a perforated wooden board. The subsequent fermentation takes place in open fermentation tanks with minimal maceration. Furthermore, the wine is stored in 228- and 350-litre barrels and then bottled directly, without any filtering or clarification.

Colour scheme
A deep garnet red hue with slight lightening towards the rim is a visual delight.

Bouquet
In 2020, the Pinot Noir Heimbourg presents itself with a mineral, earthy note that seems restrained at first. With sufficient oxygen, scents of dark cherries, plums and berries then unfold - a refreshing, at the same time refined Pinot Noir that reveals a remarkable minerality and depth through sufficient aeration.

Taste on the palate
On the palate, this wine unfolds an elegant structure. The youthful yet ripe acidity and tannin harmonise perfectly with its juicy fruit, which enlivens the drinking pleasure. This expressive drop is reminiscent of its Burgundian heritage and combines perfectly with dishes that contain both earthy and fruity notes.

Development potential
A wonderful, expressive wine with a lot of development potential - aeration before drinking is recommended to fully develop its flavour.

New food recommendations
Pair this wine with salmon tartare on a slice of raw roasted beetroot, duck breast with set cherries and pistachio polenta, or beef fillet with truffle cheese sauce and rosemary oven potatoes for a culinary experience.
