Wine information
Kühn's part of the Hallgartener Jungfer lies directly above the Doosberg at around 220 metres above sea level. The soil is erosion material from the Rheingau mountains with a high quartzite content, mixed with loess loam. Slightly inclined to the south-east, the vineyard is somewhat cooler than the Doosberg. The development of this Great Growth was made in a specially purchased Stockinger wooden barrel. The wine from the Hallgartener Jungfer lies in the same barrel every year, which means that the influence of the wood is barely noticeable.
Color
medium straw yellow
Nose
The Riesling from the Hallgartener Jungfer 2021 opens with fresh, citrusy notes that are mixed with a little smoke and tobacco. Above this is a scent of crushed slate and white flowers.
Palate
On the palate the Great Growth Deep, juicy and energetic with notes of rock, salt, zest and the fruit of lemons and pomaceous fruit. The Riesling is simultaneously creamy and silky on the palate, firm and tight in its extract and acid structure. The Riesling Maid is a precise wine with lots of juice and an impressive length.
