Llum, in German Light, is a cuvée of about 90 % Grenache gris from vines up to 100 years old and 10 % Macabeu, whose vines are somewhat younger. Both varieties are located in the Piémont Pyrénéen Oriental region on pure slate soil. They were fermented spontaneously and aged in used wood.

Straw yellow

Llum is a wine that lives up to its name. If you travel through the south of France, you will find a lot of white wines that are rather ponderous, dense, powerful and heavy. Not so with Marjorie Gallet. She lets as it were Burgundy in Roussillon are made with varieties from the south of France. In this case, they are Grenache gris and Macabeu. They shine and bring freshness and at the same time depth into the wine. Llum smells of salt lemons and pineapple, of vanilla ice cream and white tea, of fennel greens and lemon curd. With air, it becomes more and more lemon curd, that is, this combination of lemon and foamed cream.

This creaminess also determines the taste, in which all the fresh flavours are found again. Here, too, the freshness and clarity with the notes of lemon and grapefruit zest as well as the nerve and very special fruit acidity of almost still green pineapple. But then there is a subtle spiciness that really makes you think of the South for the first time when you have the wine in your glass. In any case, you wouldn't have gotten that idea with the 12.5 % that the wine has. On the palate the Llum More and more creamy, without losing freshness. In the final one feels then finally again a little wood, but so discreetly that it only supports something and contributes a breath of caramel.
