Info
The grapes even come mainly from the DOCG areas of Barolo and Barbaresco and are planted on calcareous marl. The vine age is between 10 and 45 years and the vines are grown in wire-frame systems at medium planting density. The vinification is carried out after selective, manual harvesting in individual batches according to the location or parcel. A quarter of the grapes are whole clusters, the rest are destemmed. A short cold maceration takes place in stainless steel, followed by maceration with "pump over". The must and the marc are in contact with the wine for almost four weeks.
Color
Bright cherry red with many light reflections and dark accents
Nose
Chiara Boschis and her team succeed in combining this typical Nebbiolo fruit with spice and elegance in 2020 as well. The Langhe Nebbiolo opens dark, but at the same time incredibly open. Blackberry, sour cherry and mulberry meet fresh fig and currant. Juniper and black pepper provide plenty of spice. It is earthy, characterised by undergrowth and fir branches. Etheric nuances come to the fore in the form of eucalyptus and thyme as well as pine needles. Roasted hazelnuts as well as fresh coffee beans round it off in an angular way. And these edges are great.
Palate
This can be enjoyed with big sips. The Langhe Nebbiolo shows all its skills on the palate. Cool elegance, fine minerality and a harmonious tannin structure. The fruit comes out small-berried and with a pleasant acidity. It appears mysterious and dark. However, many accents also have a brightening effect. The roasted aromas and the tannin set the tone alongside the sour cherry. The tannin is positively brittle and animates the other elements enormously. Nebbiolo can be so sexy in this form. The acidity packs a punch on the palate and lifts the drinkability to a new level.
