The Clos Venturi winery is located in the small village of Ponte-Leccia in the municipality of Morosaglia, about 50 kilometres southwest of the capital Bastia. The wines of François Aquaviva, Jean-Marc and Manu Venturi uniquely combine continental freshness with Mediterranean ripeness, made possible by the exceptional altitude of the vineyards on sandstone, basalt, granite and blue slate. The 2019 IP Blanc is a cuvée of Viancu Gentile, Genovese Vermentinu and Rimenese.

Color

Brilliant straw yellow with bright green reflections.

Nose

The 2019 IP Blanc from Clos Venturi steams out of the goblet with elevated complexity, like an anti-aircraft spotlight beaming into the sky above the multi-purpose hall. Besides fully ripe melon and small quinces, it smells primarily herbaceous and reminiscent of tarragon, fennel and liquorice, seasoned with a spoonful of the finest linseed oil. The aroma of fully ripe cedar lemons and green mandarins floats above it.

Mouth

On the palate, the IP Blanc is silky and meltingly fruity, yet haptically taut and sinewy. Nothing flabbles here, but is full of athletic tension with a salty nature, fruit shows up at most in the extract, the ripe acidity is perfectly integrated and fugues as a subtle accelerator on the palate. The wine is based on a massive mineral foundation that calibrates the entire aroma. Flanked by aromatically tart tannin, it quickly picks up speed and positions itself as a congenial partner for Mediterranean vegetable cuisine.
