Hidden Treasures is a project by Roland Velich, Moric. Together with partner winemakers from Hungary, he wants to bring Hungary's treasures back into the wine world. Velich realised project number 2 north of Lake Balaton together with Kis Tamás from Nagy-Somló. The wine is a cuvée of Lindenblättrigem , Furmint and Welschriesling and was matured in large wood.
Color
Straw yellow with a silver tapered rim.
Nose
The nose quasi programmatically of lime blossom tea, pome fruits like apples, pears and fluffy quinces. Flanked by fresh kitchen herbs such as chervil and borage, it has a distinctive saline side reminiscent of wet table chalk and, thanks to its filigree reduction, of flint. Precise, clear and unadorned, the nose announces an upright sip.
Mouth
On the nose, the 2021 Hidden Treasures No. 2 Somlo, feat. Kis Tamas and Moric is taut with a firm bite and vertical character. With silky melting and piquant spiciness, the aromatic arc stretches from the nose to the long finish. The tart phenolic nestles with the agile acidity, the salty character of the wine fuels the austere understatement of the wine. Focused, clear and straightforward, it flows towards its cool finish.
