Wine information
With Petersbühl, Uwe Lange and Marco Pfliehinger offer a Lemberger from Württemberg. The Lemberger comes from an old steep slope between Weinsberg and Erlenbach. Exposed to the south, the vines stand on the cool edge of the forest on the typical Keuper soil, which is very calcareous and has red clay running through it. The soil clearly resembles the soil of the Steinsatz Pinot Noir. The grapes are 100% whole bunches. The grapes are briefly foot-crushed in small wooden vats and fermented on the skins for around three weeks with moderate pigeage. The grapes are then pressed on an old basket press. The country wine is racked over the broquereau and matured exclusively in used wooden barrels, mainly in barriques and pièces. No yeasts, enzymes, fining or filtration are used and, depending on the vintage, a maximum of 30 mg sulphur is added.
Color
Muted garnet red with violet inclusions.
Nose
The nose of the 2020 Petersbühl is red-fruity and clear as a bell with ethereal hints, notes of incense and rooibos tea. With increasing aeration, the dark flavours of blackberry, cassis, sweet blueberries and black plum jam become more pronounced. Notes of fine dark chocolate, vanilla, clove and cardamom give it a charming flavour. Everything is beautifully embedded in wild Mediterranean herbs and smoky minerality.
Palate
Lots of freshness meets juiciness on the tongue. The bright red fruit with hints of orange is combined with invigorating acidity, salty notes and a fine tannin structure. Peaty, malty and chocolaty notes emerge, which, in combination with the oriental spice flavours, create a delightful symbiosis. A red wine that goes perfectly with the varied and aromatic autumn and winter cuisine.
Decant and enjoy slightly chilled from large red wine glasses.
