Wine information
Villages is a blend of different vineyard sites from one village. In contrast to the Baden Landwein, which is intended to integrate and showcase all of Baden's terroirs, the Villages displays a typical local character that was found to be particularly exciting in that particular year. Depending on the vintage, either destemming or whole-cluster fermentation takes place. The grapes are briefly crushed by foot in small wooden vats and fermented on the skins for around three weeks with moderate pigeage. The grapes are then pressed on an old basket press. The country wine is racked over the broquereau by gravity and matured exclusively in used wooden barrels, mainly in barriques and pièces. No yeasts, enzymes, fining or filtration are used and, depending on the vintage, a maximum of 30 mg sulphur is added.

Color
Covered garnet red, colour-dense to the rim.

Nose
The 2020 Badischer Landwein Villages beguiles with plenty of fruit. Cassis, raspberry, rosehip, sweet blueberries and stewed plums are clearly evident. After it has been poured into a carafe, many herbal notes such as boxwood, tarragon and nettle are added, interwoven with a hint of vanilla and fine dark chocolate. An extremely complex, profound and exciting wine that you want to sink into right from the nose.

Palate
It catapults this impression perfectly onto the tongue. Playful acidity, plenty of minerality and the fine red and dark fruits dance the round dance. What an invigorating, inspiring wine that beguiles the senses with its beauty and invites you to dream. Even on its own, it is a great pleasure that lingers long in the memory and invites you to meditate. The food that accompanies it should be as original and honest as the wine itself. It will show off its Burgundian finesse to the full in the years to come.

Decant and enjoy slightly chilled from Burgundy glasses.
