Wine information
Mannaberg is a wine that is characterised by a unique terroir. The vines grow on loess, partly on dolomite stone, in a very hot, dry and extremely steep location. The yield is very low and the berries are small and concentrated. They are sometimes more reminiscent of elderberries. There are many southern herbs in the vineyard, similar to those in the garrigue, such as thyme, rosemary, lavender, juniper and marjoram.
Color
The wine has a garnet red colour with mahogany hues towards the rim.
Nose
The 2020 Mannaberg is beautifully mature with delicate fruit of cranberries, plums and figs. There are also clear herbal notes from the vineyard, reminiscent of rosemary, thyme, lavender, juniper and marjoram. These flavours are complemented by notes of roasted hazelnuts, nougat, leather, incense and fine tobacco. The wine combines morbid charm with impressive smoky minerality and a finesse-rich class.
Palate
On the palate, the wine has a fine fruity sweetness. The invigorating acidity interacts with the sweetness and salty minerality. It offers an emphasised and at the same time mature tannin structure. This exciting wine, which radiates a certain sensuality due to its maturity, just requires you to get involved with it. It goes particularly well with dishes with intense sauces and autumnal influences.
Decant and enjoy slightly chilled from Burgundy glasses.
