Wine Description for Duemani Costa Toscana IGP 2019 by Duemani

Colour & Appearance
Deep, sparkling cherry red with intense violet reflections – a wine that reveals its power and youthfulness at first glance.
Nose
A Cabernet Franc of impressive depth and complexity. The nose moves virtuously between fruit and vegetal notes: cinnamon plums, damsons and mulberries dominate, complemented by fig and blackberry. Dark flowers such as hibiscus, violet and mallow set floral counterpoints. The vegetal side characteristic of the variety reveals itself in beetroot, artichoke and cooked red pepper. Sage, marjoram and thyme bring herbal spice and ethereal freshness. Delicate hints of cedarwood, warm leather, mocha and melted dark chocolate round off the aromatic spectrum, with a whisper of eucalyptus to the finish.
Palate
Remarkably compact and densely woven, this Cabernet Franc presents itself on the palate – tightly structured, still slightly veiled and with considerable ageing potential. The fruit pushes forward with power, accompanied by present acidity. The tannin spreads across the palate, yet shows itself in perfect ripeness: elegant and meltingly soft. The vegetal notes – particularly tomato and beetroot – lend the wine additional depth and complexity. Herbal spice takes a back seat in favour of dark chocolate and coffee, which manifest themselves clearly in the finish.
Terroir & Origin
The finest parcels in Riparbella, at 220-250 metres altitude, facing the Tyrrhenian Sea. Calcareous soils rich in clay and pebbles, 17-year-old vines – ideal conditions for a great Cabernet Franc.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Cabernet Franc, spontaneously fermented in conical oak barrels, 30 days of skin contact. 22 months ageing in French barriques (225-228l), 80% new, 20% second fill. Bottled unfiltered – artisanal perfection.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Venison loin with nut crust, Romanesco and pan-fried potato gnocchi; medium-rare duck breast with hoisin sauce, pak choi and braised plum; crispy fried aubergine with garlic, mint and black olives.
Special Features
A Cabernet Franc that proves Tuscany can do more than Sangiovese. Profound, honest, playful and mature all at once – a sure bet for lovers of pure, characterful red wines with ageing potential.
