Romain and Damien Bouchard's Domaine de l'Enclos has three Grand Cru and seven Premier Cru sites in Chablis. The Vaudesir Grand Cru site covers just 0.57 hectares. It was replanted in 1992 by the father of the two brothers and overlooks the Vaudesir valley to the south.
Color
Pale straw yellow with apricot-coloured reflections and a slightly silky-matt cloudiness.
Nose
The 2022 Vaudesir Chablis Grand Cru from Domaine de L'Enclos exudes fresh bread notes, yeast dough and a little sourdough bark as well as distinctively saline notes of oyster shells and wet chalk. The crumbly, ripe fruit, reminiscent of yellow apples and Abate pears, slumbers warmly and wafts underneath. There are also roasted notes from the ageing in wood, some toffee and latte. At present, the wine outlines its dormant potential with elegant calm instead of loudly emphasising its undisputed status. Endurance runner.
Mouth
Gripping in the mouth with an almost rabid grip and a strikingly saline structure, which is further emphasised by the present phenolics. The feel is reminiscent of sandpaper of the finest grain, the phenolics oscillate aromatically on the sweet side, the extract is dense and pulsating on the palate, giving an idea of the potential that lies dormant. Still youthful and aromatically somewhat nailed down, the sensational structure alone allows a glimpse into the long future.
