Color
In deep dark purple with violet rim and opaque core, the wine appears clear and shiny in the glass.
Nose
Deep red, finely spicy and of a hauntingly self-assured nature is the wine's initial sensory appearance. Aromas of cooked plum with pepper, cinnamon and allspice, rosehip tea and blackberries meet an intense wild cherry aroma, almost reminiscent of that of children's Emeukal lozenges. Due to the pleasant maturity, which brings the wine into inner balance, it has left its fruit opulent phase behind and gains depth. It is difficult to speak of maturity when this wine from 2010 is only beginning to unfold leisurely and is still full of youth. Earthy notes of autumn trumpets, sugar beet and roasted hazelnuts are skillfully integrated into a scent of rum balls.
Palate
Full-bodied, even fleshy, is the body of this rustic red wine from Priorat. Spicy, subtly vegetal notes of grilled pimentos de Padron, red pepper and tomato paste refresh its massive density. Happily, it carries this gracefully through ripe soft tannin rather than in front of it. The 2010 Cor Negre from Terra de Verema is a powerful wine that stands for pleasant comfort and serves up its most delightful moments of brilliance by the fireplace of the ski hut or with hearty food in a lively gathering.
