Caroline Pobitzer, a vintner from South Tyrol, and her German husband, Jan Hendrik Erbach, an enologist, have settled on this venerable terroir in the immediate vicinity of Biondi-Santi. The soils offer ideal conditions for Sangiovese to develop complex, finesse-rich wines full of depth. The four different sites require very individual work in the vineyards and during vinification. With the precision of a Swiss clockwork, Jan manages to conjure up the entire diversity of the terroir from his 6.5 hectares of vineyards into his wines. The freshness of his wines never fails to delight. This new style has inspired us completely, as it shows a whole new potential of Sangiovese grosso: juicy, full-bodied wines full of melting and delicate tannins.
