Nose

While others struggled with the difficult 2014 vintage in Tuscany, Luca d'Attoma seems to be floating above things. His cabernet franc proves this in an impressive way. If you are expecting a Cabernet Franc from the Loire, please move on. This one can be compared to a Cabernet Franc from St. Émilion in warmer years. The already dark in colour Cabernet also shows its power aromatically on the dark side. Now, still young, it offers plenty of oak and cedar to frame a rich cassis and cherry fruit accompanied by liquid chocolate and some grated stone.

Mouth

On the palate the Cabernet big time. It opens like an evening spectacle in an amphitheatre. One after the other, the protagonists appear while crickets chirp in the background and a warm breeze caresses you. The wine shows a lot of volume and has an immense depth. The fruit is still absolutely young and primary, but at the same time o richly ripe that you are afraid that the juice might run out of your mouth again. In addition to the warmth of the fruit and the immense power that initially overwhelms you, someone enters the stage who initially acted as a supporting actor but becomes more important as the piece progresses. The acidity makes its way, always remaining wiry and lean while demanding attention, and eventually manages to tie all the performers together. This is more than remarkable.
