Wine information

A pure Pinot Noir from different sites by Uwe Lange and Marco Pfliehinger. Here, younger vines and those parcels were used that do not flow into the site wines. Complete manual work in the vineyard as well as in the cellar. Depending on the vintage, partially destemmed or fermented as whole grapes. Briefly foot-crushed in small wooden vats and fermented in moderate pigeage for around three weeks on the skins. The wine is then pressed on an old basket press. The country wine is drawn off with hose and by fall pressure, aged exclusively in used wooden barrels, predominantly Barriques and Pièces. No yeasts, no enzymes, no fining, no filtration and a maximum of 30 mg of added sulphur depending on the vintage.

Lots of red berries and a discreetly present wood dominate the Baden Land Wine 2018 shortly after opening. It is recommended to give it a little air, ideally a carafe. Then more and more blue and black berries flow into the wine with the air. Some elderberries, blackberries and black cherries are perceived, as well as undergrowth, some earth and pepper. The hint of vanilla and oak, which is present from the beginning, harmonizes and continues to resonate.


On the palate the Country Wine a combination of rich berry fruit, cherries, wood and ripe raisins. The wine seems darker fruited here from the start than on the nose. The raisins provide grip. The present acidity and the grainy tannin also give the Pinot Noir the necessary backbone. This comes across as polished and coherent with moderate alcohol. And that's why the quality (like the price) goes far beyond the conventional type of country wine. This is terroir wine, unvarnished and beautiful.
