Color
The glass reveals a medium-light, clear, almost sparkling garnet red that is inviting at first sight.
Nose
The pure-bred Sciaccarellu of the Altare high altitude radiates with inescapable charm. Its fragrance allows the image of a bouquet of flowers filled with roses, violets and hollyhocks. Soon, however, the intense aromas of wild cherries, wild raspberries, red currants and vineyard peaches take over, with hints of cherry and almond kernels and nuances of authentic liquorice and subtle oak notes. A fresh, appetising and multi-layered bouquet that draws the attention to the following sip.
Mouth
This olfactory magic continues its course on the palate. The first sip of Altare flows over the tongue like sweet juice, then gives way to an exciting intermezzo between sweetness, fruit acidity, a fine bitter note and a hint of peach, framed by elegant tannins. Hints of light tobacco, bourbon vanilla, subtle spice and minerality characterise the further composition. A wonderful expression of light, stimulating red wine that spreads joy and, unlike many other red wines, does not tire. Here you will find energy, movement and yet complexity and power with a long finish.
Food recommendations
Try this red wine alongside a creamy risotto with autumn truffles, a spicy sea bass in a prosciutto coat or grilled lamb racks with rosemary.
