Wine Description for Aria Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut by Alexis

Colour & Appearance
Medium straw yellow with vibrant, persistent mousse – a visually inviting Champagne that reveals its freshness immediately in the glass.
Nose
Classic Blanc de Blancs typicity with pronounced citrus freshness: limequat, lemon and grapefruit dominate, accompanied by lemon curd and bread crust. Fine notes of grated hazelnut and almond join the composition. The autolytic brioche aromas remain discreetly in the background, underpinned by mineral, stony nuances – a Champagne that confidently displays its youth.
Palate
Pleasant pressure on the palate with lively texture. The citrus components continue, carried by agile acidity and fine mousse. Despite minimal dosage of just 2.4 grams, the wine never feels austere, but rather displays a subtle grip. A charming association emerges: as if white nougat had been dipped in lemon juice – a delicious balance between creaminess and freshness.
Finish
Dry and citrus-driven with fine creaminess. The Champagne bids farewell elegantly and persistently, without feeling heavy.
Terroir & Origin
The grapes come from Troissy in Champagne, where complex soils of chalk, sand, limestone, marl, clay and carbonate rock predominate. Particularly defining are the brown clay soils, which lend the wine its mineral structure.
Grape Variety & Vinification
100% Chardonnay. Tirage on 1st April 2020, dégorgement in February 2023 – thus nearly three years on the lees. The Extra Brut dosage of just 2.4 grams underscores the purist philosophy and allows the terroir maximum expression.
Food Pairing Recommendations
Perfect with roasted asparagus with orange blossom honey and gooseberries, grilled cod fillet with peas and limequats or roasted leek with salt lemon and caper mayonnaise. The acidity and freshness harmonise beautifully with spring-like, vegetable-focused dishes.
