Info about the wine
The Weißburgunder "Reserve" is a selection of the best Weißburgunder grapes from the vineyards around Hohen-Sülzen and the Rhine-Hesse part of the Zellertal. The Weißburgunder is treated in exactly the same way as the wines from the first vineyards. The ripe and healthy grapes are hand-picked and selected again by hand at the sorting table. Fermented and matured in used French tonneaux, this wine matures on the fine lees until after Easter of the following year.
Color
Sparkling, brilliant golden yellow with delicate green reflections.
Nose
The 2021 Pinot Blanc Réserve shows a beautiful clear fragrance of pear, young pineapple, apricot, meadow herbs, lime blossom and anise. The extremely skilful use of wood gives it notes of light noble tobacco, white bread crust and milk coffee. All aromas intertwine beautifully and are perfectly framed by a mineral freshness that already beguiles on the nose.
Palate
What a dexterous and filigree dancer opens up to us on the tongue, elegant melting combines with fine spice and salty grip. Its finely chiselled fruit flows together with an extremely discreet alcohol of only 12.5 vol%. With this Pinot Blanc, everything just fits, you can't get enough of it, which means it's perfect with food. Fine cuisine and the ability to be a great host is something Caroline and H.O. have mastered superbly.
