Color
Dense purple, violet reflections
Nose
The name says it all here. Not only in colour, but also in the nose, Violette is true to itself. Pansies and violets are clearly recognisable. The fruit is complemented by juicy mulberries, blackberries, elderberries and plenty of plums. The fruit is enormously appealing and balanced. From the spice cupboard, there is a little clove and juniper as well as plenty of cinnamon. Dried fruits, in the form of figs and cranberries, strike exactly the same note. A fine tone of reduction provides freshness and clarity. The nose animates enormously to reach for the first sip.
Palate
Clau de Nell delivers here, plain and simple. The 2020 Violette picks up seamlessly from the nose. Full of fruit expression and intensity. Yet it is as far from overripe or fruity kitsch as Berlin is from an airport of stature. Its fruit is so perfectly integrated, literally bursting with energy and radiance. A laser sword sweeps through the intensely fragrant fruit with precision, so that new taste images are formed on the palate again and again. Enormously varied and complex with a very high fun factor at the same time. High drinking flow and fast glasses guaranteed. This taste pattern is also repeated in the aftertaste, supported by plenty of white pepper.
