Update 11.05.2021
Location and soil
Lieben Aich in Terlan, a south-western slope at 300 metres above sea level with a mild, breezy microclimate and water-permeable, sandy loam on porphyry weathered rock, the soil with the greatest mineral structure in the vineyard.
Expansion
The destemmed grape berries remained on the press for twelve hours for maceration to extract aroma and structure from the skins. Fermentation took place in wooden barrels, spontaneously with the grape's own yeasts. During the ten-month aging on the fine yeast, aroma and taste refined.
Color
Bright, sparkling golden yellow.
Nose
The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc Tannenberg smells intensely of grapefruit, elderflower and elderwood. With the necessary oxygen, exotic hints of mango, papaya and green gooseberry join in. The whole is accompanied by a penetrating minerality, which reminds of wet stone and gives it a certain coolness and pleasant roughness. Already in the nose a very drinking animating drop.
Palate
On the palate, it shows its mineral side, pleasantly dry, the stony aromas of the nose are intensely tasty on the tongue. The salty mineral character and its stimulating acidity make it the perfect companion to fish, shellfish and white meat with rich sauces. The fine piquancy in the finish stimulates even more - bottle empty, wine drinker happy!
Food recommendation
At this stage, decant if possible and enjoy not too cold from a Burgundy glass.
