Wine information

La Bonnode borders the La Combe Desroches vineyard and covers two hectares at an altitude of 250 metres, facing east at the foot of the Roche de Vergisson. The 35-year-old vines are mostly surrounded by old shrubs. The soils of calcareous marl and light clay are ideal for Chardonnay. The harvest took place from 23 to 24 September 2021. The Chardonnay was pressed from whole clusters and fermented spontaneously. It then matured for over 17 months in barrels and in Pièces of 228 litres. Malolactic fermentation followed. The total sulphur is 31 mg/l, the pH value is 3.21.

Nose

The 2021 La Bonnode offers the clarity, brightness and citrus freshness typical of the vintage at La Soufrandière, which has rarely been achieved in Mâcon in recent years. The nose is elegant with a successful blend of lemons and oranges including their peels, spring meadow flowers and some verbena. There are also slightly chalky notes.

Palate

Exercises on the palate La Bonnode The wine exudes a lot of pressure right from the start. This is ensured by the virile acidity, which is supported by a clear minerality. The wine seems vibrant, juicy and bright, fresh and clear, even prancing with a mixture of yellow stone fruit, crisp peaches and lots of ripe citrus fruit. In the finish, a striking saltiness clothes the spicy, even sharp yet pleasant citrus notes on the palate. Strong!
