The steep slopes that the Busch family farms around Pünderich on the Middle Moselle are worth a trip at best. They are as much a feast for the eyes as they are a challenge for personal fitness. The perceptible and tangible elaboration of the different types of rocks has emerged as Clemens Busch's absolute supreme discipline in the course of the past two decades.
Color
The wine shows a bright sunflower yellow, clear and shiny in the glass.
Nose
Loaded with yellow-fleshed fruit, this Riesling moves aromatically between apple skin and apricot, as well as an implied exoticism of pineapple, star fruit and passion fruit. Herbal and ethereal, the wine's fragrant fruit opulence is underpinned by notes of fresh mint, lemon verbena and honeybush tea; delicate silhouettes of floral scents such as chamomile, lime and acacia also emerge.
Palate
The 2019 Riesling "vom roten Schiefer" from Clemens Busch is benevolent and sociable and thus provides a correspondingly sensible and coherent testimony to its origin and year of origin. Carried by the fruit, accessible and open, it cheerfully shows what it is made of. Juicy, with a creamy texture and playful, yet moderate acidity, it appears with a compact body on the palate.
Also in youthful stage already extremely pleasure-bringing to drink.
