Color
Bright straw yellow, radiant and clear.
Nose
The 2018 Ölberg from Kühling-Gillot is reminiscent of ripe oranges, of which the peels and oil as well as fully ripe Cedro lemons. Herbal notes and crushed oyster shells add up to a joyful mineral drink with full-bodied fruit and decent bass. Tasted at the GG preview in Wiesbaden, all notes are always sketches, but they attest good prospects.
Mouth
In the nose citrusy tart with a distinctive bitter note of grapefruit, it shows itself ripe without going too wide. With a slightly oily viscosity, it is pithy on the palate with a firm tannin framework and contouring wood. The acidity acts as the architect of the wine and leads it into the salty-cool finish with mineral-citric reverberation.
