Impressions of the wine
From one of the highest vineyards in the region comes this special drop. Planted in 1996, the vineyard, which can be found right on the doorstep, slopes slightly towards the east. A limestone soil provides ideal conditions in terms of water and nutrient availability. The yield: 1517 bottles á 0,75l, 60 bottles á 1,5l, 12 bottles á 3 litres and 6 bottles á 6l. All were carefully harvested by hand.
A bright, yet elegant golden yellow characterises this wine.
This Riesling of the year 2020, with the nickname Muschelkalk, presents itself enormously interesting and more than just note-rich. At the same time, it does not show itself from the fruity side. It is rather a combination of apple and apple peel, which combines with the scent of lime blossom and wine yeast as well as a touch of almond. With oxygen, grapefruit is added and fresh, tart herbal notes. Throughout, a Riesling that promises powerful, refreshing and cooling qualities through its scent alone.
One could almost think that the wine sets the tone, so juicy and animating it presents itself on the tongue. Saliva production is immediately stimulated, and salty notes are then clearly discernible, which combine with something lemony. This is joined by a juicy peach note. The whole is rounded off by an incomparably invigorating finish, characterised by fine tannins. A wine of outstanding quality that can accompany any dish excellently!
Best served in a decanter and enjoyed. After two days of opening, it unfolds its true flavour.
Alternatives to the food recommendations: Pumpkin tartare with saffron sauce and mint, oysters on a salad of blood oranges and nori, clay pot roasted gilthead with citrus goat cheese polenta.
