Vineyard background
Taking its name from the "Lene" of the Pfingstbach stream, this site is characterised by a gentle south-westerly slope that extends gently into the stream valley. Particularly characteristic of this site is the fertile, loamy loess in which red quartz veins of ferruginous nature are embedded. "Eiserberg" is an old field name of Lenchen, referring to these geological peculiarities. The morning mist that hovers around the Pfingstbach favours the emergence of Botrytis Cinerea, creating the perfect breeding ground for the noble sweet wines.
About the expansion
This wine was fermented spontaneously and aged in a stainless steel tank before being bottled in spring 2022.
Color
The bright, shimmering golden yellow colour with delicate green reflections immediately captivates the observer.
Scent
When uncorking the 20210 Riesling Lenchen Auslese, a scent of mango, vineyard peach, ripe apple and candied lemon immediately spreads in the air. The aromas blend harmoniously and radiate an invigorating freshness and seductive sweetness. The distinct and intense minerality already hints at how much more this wine will develop with time.
Taste
On the palate, this Auslese impresses with rich fruitiness, creamy sweetness and pleasantly invigorating acidity. It shines with its delicacy, an excellent balance between sweetness and acidity as well as an extremely mild alcohol content of only 7.5 vol%. The wine tempts to enjoy more than just one glass. A perfect companion for desserts, exotic starters and cheese.
Culinary tip
Try this wine with a tartlet of goat cheese, tomato and peach served with mint jelly. It is also excellent with a spicy shrimp and avocado salad with mango, mint and coriander or with a cream cheese-based soufflé with a puree of rhubarb and strawberries.
