Wine description for Meursault 1er Cru Le Poruzot-Dessus Élevage Prolongé AOC 2020 1500ml Magnum from Rémi Jobard
Colour & appearance
Bright golden yellow with brilliant reflections that reveal the depth and maturity of this exceptional Meursault. The viscosity in the glass already hints at the concentrated structure.
Nose
A multi-layered, restrained bouquet that slowly unfolds. Initially, fine notes of white flowers, citrus fruit and green apple emerge, underpinned by subtle hints of flint and chalk. With air contact, nuances of brioche, roasted hazelnuts and a subtle honey note develop, never tipping over into heaviness.
Palate
Impressive on the palate premier cru with its precise acid structure and mineral tension. The Extended barrel ageing (Élevage Prolongé) gives the wine remarkable complexity and depth without masking its terroir character. The texture is both silky and taut, with an impressive length that is accompanied by salty notes and a fine bitterness on the finish. The magnum bottle gives this 2020 additional development potential.
General information
Rémi Jobard favours a minimalist cellar philosophy. The grapes from the vineyard Le Poruzot-Dessus are vinified using the traditional method and mature for two winters in wooden barrels, using only 20% new wood. The use of 600-litre Stockinger barrels preserves the minerality and freshness. Bottled unfiltered, the wine retains its natural complexity and expressiveness.
Food pairing suggestions
A wine that goes well with sophisticated dishes. Excellent with Lobster with butter, Sweetbreads or Bresse chicken in cream sauce. Also to matured Comté or Époisses a remarkable accompaniment. The magnum size predestines this wine for special occasions in a small circle.
Special features
The 2020 vintage combines ripeness with remarkable freshness - a reflection of the warm but not extreme summer. The site Le Poruzot-Dessus is located on the slope above Meursault and brings mineral precision to the wine. The Extended barrel ageing and the magnum format give this wine an exceptional ageing potential of 15+ years. A prime example of the renaissance of the classic Burgundy style, which combines power with elegance.
